Frequently asked questions
How fast is the translation?
The first time content is translated, it can take a few seconds. After that, the translation is cached, and requests take no more than 100 to 300 ms. For this reason, avoid translating dynamic content where possible. That also reduces your usage.
With React SSR or Angular prerendering, translations happen on the server before the page is sent, so users never wait for them.
How is the usage calculated?
Usage is counted in translated characters per month. At the start of each month, the usage is reset to 0.
When the same content is translated multiple times, its characters are not counted again. If your content is static, it doesn't matter how often it is translated. Only the first time counts.
If the content of a <T> or <t> component changes, the whole content is translated again, and all its characters are counted again. This can affect your usage when a sentence contains dynamic content:
<T>You have {count} unread messages in your inbox</T>
Here, the whole sentence is translated again whenever count changes. If your website has a lot of traffic, keep an eye on this.
What are the limitations?
You cannot translate more than 10 KB of text in a single translation component. Depending on the language, 10 KB is between 2,500 and 10,000 characters. To translate more, split the text into multiple components.
{/* instead of this */}<T>... very long text ...</T>{/* do this */}<T>... long text part 1 ...</T><T>... long text part 2 ...</T>
What happens when the monthly limit is reached?
New text is no longer translated. Content that was already translated stays translated, and new text is shown as is, in its original language.
What languages are available?
