MCP server

Magic Translate has an MCP server, so AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can set up Magic Translate in your project and manage your translations for you.

https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp

It works with any MCP client that supports remote servers. The first time you connect, your client opens magictranslate.io in your browser. Sign in, or create a free account, and allow the client to use your account.

What your agent can do

  • Add Magic Translate to a project. It reads the setup instructions for your framework, installs the client with your API key and wraps your text for translation. Many clients offer this as the add-to-project prompt.
  • Check your account. Your API key, your plan and this month's usage.
  • Translate texts, for example to preview them. This counts towards your monthly characters, like translations on your site.
  • Review and fix translations. It can list your translations, spot wrong terms or an inconsistent formality, and override them with a better translation. Most clients ask you before changing a translation.

Connect your client

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http magic-translate https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code to sign in.

Codex

codex mcp add magic-translate --url https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp

Codex opens your browser to sign in. To sign in again later, run codex mcp login magic-translate.

Cursor

Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to .cursor/mcp.json in your project:

{
"mcpServers": {
"magic-translate": {
"url": "https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp"
}
}
}

VS Code

Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

{
"servers": {
"magic-translate": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp"
}
}
}

Claude and Claude Desktop

Open Settings → Connectors, click Add custom connector and enter https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp.

Other clients

Most clients take the URL as a remote, or HTTP, server. A client that only runs local servers can connect through mcp-remote:

{
"mcpServers": {
"magic-translate": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp"]
}
}
}

Without signing in

A client that can't sign in in a browser, for example in CI, can send your secret key instead:

Authorization: Bearer p-...

To only add Magic Translate to a project, you don't need an account at all: https://mcp.magictranslate.io/mcp/public offers the setup instructions without signing in. Your agent then uses a placeholder for the API key, which you replace with yours from your account page.
